| My low speed is out on the heater in my 95 YJ. Unfortunately it's not the fan switch, which only leaves the resistor. Does anyone have a clue how to replace the resistor in this heater? From what I've seen, it involves some soldering and finding a special resistor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I looked in my little black note book... actually, it's a Blue's Clues notebook. :) I couldn't find any information or schematics that denote anything about resistors or resistor values - so I can't help you there.
Have you looked at a wrecking yard to see if you can get what you need there?

| No, not yet. I actually found an article once online about how to solder a resistor in, and it showed some photos of what was involved, but of course now i can't find it. It's frustrating because with only high, you get too hot, but the only other option is off, and you freeze to death. Yeah, I know, too hot in a soft top jeep is an oxy moron. hahaha. |

| This is the article I found on the heater issue. Reason I had so much trouble finding it the second time is that it's for the XJ not the YJ. Any idea if the heater system would be similar?

Great article!
I'm pretty confident that the switching mechanism and the fan system is the same from the YJ to the XJ, so you should be able to use the same repair process.

| Ok, i thought i'd post a follow up for this topic. the directions in the link i posted for the XJ did in fact work for the YJ. The part looks similar in appearance on the YJ but is not like what is pictured. The YJ has a bracket that surrounds the wires making it nearly impossible to get into with a soldering iron or pliers. But after about an hour of tedious bending, twisting, and soldering, i was able to get the resistor installed and my heater fan does work on low, and medium both now. Where as before it was only high. |
