Hi here's my problem I don't know what's wrong with my 4x4 but it doesnt work

issue is my light in the dash doesnt come up anymore

my two front wheels are not getting traction

my shifter for the 4x4 works fine

2 wheel drive and 4 high are the same when I shift

when I put on 4 L my motor is reacting like it should be doing

im wondering what could be the cause

Hi DodgeCharger - have you done any diagnosis work on the truck yet?

Here are some things to check, so that you can isolate the problem:

  1. Have you checked to see if it the light bulb is burnt out?
  2. Have you checked to see if the front driveshaft is engaged when you select 4-hi or 4-lo?
  3. If you have manual locking hubs, are they fully turned and engaged?

It's the actuator then. Check the vacuum lines again (like your mechanic did). If that's good, then you need to replace the actuator.

a 93 jeep yj with 4.0 and ax-15 tranny. the jeep has 4inch lift w/t-case drop and with 33inch A/Ts. when its driven in 2wd on pavement/offrd it makes a clunking sound which doesnt sound severe until put in 4wd. the vacuum disconnect isnt hooked up and it doesnt look like the previous owner put TJ shafts on it. but anyways when its shift to 4wd and try to turn or drive it slowly straight the clunking sounds is very loud and sounds like "someone is banging the crap out of the jeep underneath with a hammer" well anyways it does feel like the front wheels grab when i turn on pavement but maybe its just the tires. is this a tcase problem, ujoint problem, or what. thanks.
