| I almost have enough $$$ for gears and a rear locker. I have an 05 TJ 4.0 with the 6 speed trans. I am running 33x10.5's I would like to go up to 35's one day (maybe). I would only go to 35's if I got the super 35 upgrade.
Do I want to run 4:10's or 4:56's?
Which locker should I go with. This is my daily driver also.
Who, where do I buy from?
Thanks for the input.

You know it's going to be a good day when you get the milk to cereal ratio correct on the first bowl. |

| I would not waste time with 4.10's and would go with 4.56's minimum and if 35's are in the plan get 4.88's. Many tend to think as the 4.10 as the standard but want the standard should be is based on vehicle and tire size. A 4.10 with 35's is about like a 3.42 with stock tires in effective gear ratio and that is before you figure extra drag from lift and tires. |

| Thats what I am trying to figure out, I can tell the difference with the added weight of the new bumper and rockers, plus if I have my wife a daughter the feel is greater. I don't think I want to run 35's with the stock axles (especially the front) I like the 33's just fine just want to keep the option of going bigger open. Being a daily driver is a Detroit going to be annoying? I don't have enough for the air or selectable style lockers so they are out. Would any easy locker work?
thanks |

| There is many misconception out there about lockers. Detroit style lockers CANNOT drive both wheels and different speeds in a turn because they lack they physically lack ability to do so by design. It is either both wheel driven at same speed on inside wheel drive in a turn with outside wheel free wheeling under light throttle or coasting period. No other drive options are possible. Lacker like this are hard and axles to and especially front drive axles! If you really what a locker in a daily driver I would get a selectable one that retains full differential ability under power when needed. Lacking this get a LSD unit for best street manors. Also Detroit style locker kinda suck at towing because they tend to stay locked all the time under power making turning more difficult and they can be a heart attack on ice. It can be argued the merit of their true need and benefit in anything less than maybe rock crawling. Also, returning to gear ratio selection consider this, I have a set of new Yukon 4.56 gears on the shelve for my 2000 K3500 that I plan to install before winter and it is not lifted nor does it run over sized tires. I used to run 4.10 and 4.56 gears in 4x4's 30 plus years ago before there as OD trannies and OD trannies can give you best of both world because they can let you run some serious gears and yet cruise nicely too. |

| I wouldnt trust the dana 35 as far as i could throw it they are junk I ran 31's and ive blown my rear end twice once being stupid and once driving the 30 in the front might be fine but be carefull about putting to big a tire on and going out to play a little some where. ive blown my 30's spider gears driving it home in front wheel drive after blowing the 35. I dont know much about the super 35 kit i even thought about buying it but i didnt want to chance wasting the money so im trying to upgrade to a 44 at least in the rear. |

well I installed a winch and dropped down to 31's for now.
Where are you located? I am keeping an eye out for what comes up. I almost drove to Arkansas to buy a matching set of rubicon axles but the drive and time did not make the deal seem worth it.
let me know your location and price.
Thanks Nick |

yeah it seems all the good stuff is on the west coast. I have been looking for a hood too and every time one comes up that is white the seller has no shipping and is to far away. One of my neighbors is an independent truck driver, I will check and see if he has any runs in your direction in the near future. |

I am in Reno Nevada. Might be too far for you. $500.00 takes it.
