From everything I am reading on this subject, it is actually not benificial to do this swap. From what I understand the stock 5.9 puts out 5 more HP than the 4.0 and about 10FTlbs more torque. What I gather is that in is more benificial to stroke out your 4.0, do a good header, and a 4BBL conversion or a better throttle body, or injectors. Plus, you will retain the well known bullet proof I6 4.0. Plus, think of the power to weight ratio. Do a stroker kit plus some good bolt ons, some gears, and you will be doing well. And, on top of that, you wont have to fab up mounts (which is what you are looking at doing since the 5.9 doesnt bolt up), you wont have to buy or scrounge out an electrical wiring harness, and it will be a better fit than the V8, plus more power for less money overall and less headache. I hope that helps a bit. By the way this link shows that you will have around 270 HP and about 325 FTlbs of torque. http://www.ajeepthing.com/stroker-motor.html

she s hitting 200000 mi. but your right old 4.0 is still hanging in and a stoker motor sounds more down to earth.I have an old 5.9 but mileage is unknown. Thanks again for good advise.
