| I have a 1984 Power ram 360, ex SIDES fire engine which blew its motor. No spares here in Zimbabwe and the cost of Petrol is very high. I would like to fit a Diesel engine, but am worried that the gear ratio in the auto box would be suited to the Higher reving petrol V8 engine. Any one ideas on Transmision ratios diferences/suitability for diesel conversion. |

The transmission gear ratios will be just fine for a diesel. What you need to be concerned with is the axle ratio. It is possible to buy a Ram Turbo Diesel with 4.10:0 gears in it but they work better with the 3.55:1's. I dont think you can mate your automatic transmission to a diesel without an adapter, so you may want to make sure that your trucks transmission will bolt up. Goodluck
