| I am very unhappy with my purchase when I bought a new 2003 1500 Ram 4x4. I had to put after market slotted rotors on after I had already brought it in twice to the dealer at 9000 miles. Then the CD player broke and had to be replaced. Now, just recently, my tranny went up in flames. I had to have it towed over 100 miles to get it home. This truck only has 22,000 miles on it and I can't beleive the problems I'm having. I have a work rig, so this truck has been strictly for after work and weekend use. I've been babying this thing and now I see that there's no point if it's going to break down all the time!
I've talked to Dogde Chrysler and they are unwilling to do anything about this or help in any way. I've got the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty and I can only imagine what's going to happen when that's up. I may just cut my losses and get rid of it.
When I buy a brand new truck I expect brand new quality and performance. The customer service has been terrible, as well.

I have been noticing problems with my O3 1500 tranny resently. I have had it into THREE DIFFERENT dealerships and they all say that they cant duplicate the problem that I say is happening. BS!! It does it every time that I drive the truck, its shifting hard into 3rd and sometimes 4th. Just last week I really tested the truck out and headed to Colorado to do some camping. To get to were we camped involved going over a Extreme 4X4 jeep trail (probably really didnt have any business taking that long and wide of a vehicle on the road, but we made it) I had the truck in 4LO the whole time due to the grade of the road, etc... Once I got back to the highway, the truck was running like crap!!!! Tranny shifting very hard, letting off the gas and then gently giving it gas, as in highway traffic, would cause a big jult, AND starting out from a stop there is a grinding sound now, but it seems like that is coming from the transfer case???? Anyway, my question, what did they say caused the tranny to fail? Maybe the next time that my trucks problems are really getting to me again I can take it in and tell them to check something different out. Thanks |

| I don't know if this is the answer to everyones problem, but you wrote that you ran in 4lo for the entire trail.Running in 4lo for extended periods of time will over heat the trans.Nothing will smoke a transmission faster then over heating it! |

I have a 2004 3500 Ram 4x4 Diesel and have had zero problems since new Nov '03. Only have 6000 miles but have pulled 10,000lb trailer quite a bit. Have the 6 speed manual trans and a jake brake. Every manufacturer has some of their products develop problems--it's called the "bell shaped curve" and that's what a warrentee is for. Alot of problems have to do with how a vehicle is driven and maintained too. This is my second Ram---had a '99 before and it ran very well with only a couple of minor problems such as a bad cd player and a leaky rear cab light. I drove all over the country pulling trailer and would'nt have any other than a Dpdge with the Cummins diesel.
