Just came back from Mexico and noticed these gorgeous Ramchargers based on the latest Dodge Ram truck front end. The back reminds me somewhat of the Durango, just larger. The chassis is definitely shorter than the 1/2 ton pickup. They look real factory made, not the work of just some Mexican body shop. What the heck is with Chrysler not selling these over here? Just how big is the Mexican market compared to the American market? Put 2 more doors, use their 3/4 ton chassis and they can compete head on with the Excursion/ Suburban.

Now that the 2dr Tahoe and Yukon are gone, we definitely need a another short wheelbase fullsize. How much do you think they're going for (in $)? My brother loves his ext. 98 Ram but he's finally broke down and admitted its too damn long for most trails we go on. He might be interested. ------------ at 2/5/2000 10:55:53 PM

dodge did make a 4dr suv back in the early 90's it was a prospector, looks deadly but right now to buy one it costs $30 000.00 and thats for a 93 cuz they made practicly non of those cuz suburban had a firm hold on the market ------------ DCX at 9/18/1999 11:59:43 PM

I hadn't run across a seperate model called "Prospector" I remembered it being an option package for several years on the Rams and Ramchargers though. Chrysler did a "design exersize" for the show circuit called the Adventurer(I know it was an option as well) which was a full sized SUV; but deemed it impractical due to lack of a market. Since then.. the market now has Excursion, Expedition, Navigator. There are a few custom shops that do build them as a conversion, as well as making real crew cab Rams still. You should see the new ram as a crew cab, extended cab, dually 4X4. I've seen ONE like that. As for the Mexican Ramchargers, word I got back from Chrysler on those was something to do with the seat belts for teh back seats not meeting US crash requirements. I agree; if they build it, it will sell. ------------
