| [bartor]I have a 1974 Plymouth Trailduster, 318 auto, my valve covers were leaking, so I removed them and noticed that they were sealed on with gasket sealent. Alot of it, some was rockers, in the valve valley, etc. So I cleaned it all out buttoned everything back up, and when about my business. Now, the valve covers don't leak, but oil sprays from my dipstick once my rig heats up. I can't even drive it. anybody know what's causing this to happen? |

| Excessive crankcase pressure. Either you have a bad/plugged PVC valve or vent or you have a badly worn piston rings that is letting a lot of blowby into crankcase and overwhelming the venting of it. Overfilling of oil can cause it to foam up and over pressure crankcase too. |

Oil spraying from your dipstick? Dude - you may want to see a doctor about that.
Sorry - I couldnt resist the trip back to 7th grade.
Seriously though - I think Snoman hit the nail on the head. The PCV valve is going to be your cheapest solution and I would start there but my fear is that you sould also be experienceing rough idle with a bad PCV valve.
I would go ahead and try it though. |
