| I think it will be a flop. Dodge seems fixated on making big SUV's along with their (Dodges) reputation for lack of fuel thriftiness. Also, being FWD will limit it a lot with any kind of load in bed in normal driving. FWD only is a poor choice in a P/U style platform. There research money and design efforts would have been better spent elsewhere. |

I have always appreciated it when manufacturers stretch the envelope though... It benefits everyone in the long run, and D/C is famous (espeically of late) for doing just that. It's not a horrible looking truck, but I really think they're wearing out the ol' zoot-suit, retro-1920's look. It's getting old, that's for sure.
Regardless, I really do love concept cars. They do some really neat stuff with them!
P.S. I agree that FWD trucks aren't the best idea. Torque-steer can be overcome, so that's not too much of a concern, but I can't imagine towing a huge load with it though.
Hey Snoman - what would it be like, plowing snow with FWD? In my mind, it might actually work better, but I'm probably wrong and I plow snow about as gracefully as Rosanne Barr eats a chicken leg.

Good question.... It would have to do better than a 2wd rear wheel drive truck that is not loaded for sure especaily when plow is lifted up. Where I run into some flak with some other what I call "cowboys" (guys kinda new to plowing and think they know all the answers) is we differ in opinion on where the weight needs to be on a plow truck axle load wise. There are those that will swear up and down that you want a lot of weight up front (diesel lovers) to be able to push snow well but I have found that you want weight either close to balance or rear heavy for maximum pushing power. In any stock 4x4 truck, the rear axle is the strongest be it half ton or 1 ton and it needs to do most of the work plus f you happen to drop front end off the end of a lot or drive into some soft slick stuff with a bit heavy front end you are kinda screwed and I have seen more than one diesel power P/U with a plow fall in this trap. This is why (without getting to far off topic) I always used gas powered plow trucks because the front end get really heavy when a plow is on it so you want to start out as light as possible. I have actually weight my plow trucks with and without plow to check axle loads in various configurations. My 2000 K3500 pick up about 1250 lbs of front axle load when plow is installed and lifted |

Thanks Snoman - that certainly makes a lot of sense. I guess that's where theory and reality depart.
Although, I don't think any of us will be doing any plowing with the new Rampage any time soon. ;)

| There are some levels of "truck" DNA that just shouldn't be messed with - like changing to FWD... it seems the apple CAN fall miles away from the tree afterall. |

Actually - you bring up an excellent point Snoman... this is quite the departure for Detroit Iron, ESPECIALLY for the truck market, which is the only stable model for the American auto manufacturers.

How about it opening the door further for Toyota to step into and then blame them for stealing the truck market that Detroit choose not to support properly. |

| Yup! And make no mistake - Toyota, now being labeled as the largest auto manufacturer in the world by many analysts, is making a VERY hard run at the full size truck market. This is going to be a very tough nut to crack, being that blue-collar purchasers are died-in-the-wool loyalists, but I wouldn't be suprised if they do indeed crack into that market in a big way, in the not-so-distant future.
