With the beach runs and such and air costing money to fill em up I am planning on getting an air compressor. With the Taco having the built in converter in the bed I have been looking at 1-2 gallon AC compressors that I could rig up a little mount to fit it to the utility rails for the trips. Then I could also use it for small stuff around the house. I really don't think any of the cig lighter types are powerful enough or at least I don't want to be standing there for 3-4 minutes a tire. Plus with the AC current already available it makes sense to me to go that route. But before I do, I thought I would ask if anyone thinks I would be wasting my time and should just go with an on-board air system, I really don't see or plan any other uses for it as of now. I already have a locker don't see and air locker in my future. Do any of you have small type air compressors like I described? Do you know of any I should stay away from? Thanks for the help!

For all of the years I've been wheelin', I've never seen anyone use a 110V air compressor... that's an interesting thought to say the least. Frankly, I'd be interested to know how it turns out using something like that.

For what its worth, I had an underhood, engine-driven air compressor for a few years and I recently switched to a PowerTank. You'll have a hard time prying that PowerTank away from me. I really like the amount of CO2 is stores, and it lasts nearly a full season. I've run air tools on it non-stop and unlike a standard compressor with tank, I don't have to wait for it to 'catch up'... although, once you're out, you're definately out.

Anyhow, let us know if you do the 110V AC unit.

I think that I would look into a air tank supply that is precharged to 175 PSI or so. You could also use a bottle of compressed nitrogen gas that would be small and be able to refill tires many times over.

CO2 compresses some 5.25 times more than Nitrogen, which means if you could fill up four 37" tires with a Nitrogen tank, you could fill up twenty one with CO2.
