What do you think is the best all-around, performance-based, off-road tire on the market?
Rock your vote based upon:
Rock crawling
Mudding
Sand runs
General trail usage
Do NOT base your vote on on-road performance. |

| The best tire is a tire that will not let you down on a trail, no matter which one you like I have used various tires on my Toyota Hilux, and I have thus found so far that The BF Goodrich M/T is the best for my needs, I say this because I drive over rock, on lots of thorn trees which have lots of sharp spiky thorns, I drive through lots of loose sand, through water and I have not had any problems.[:D] |

That's what were running on our Project Land Cruiser (25X12.5 R 15's). LOVE 'EM!!!
They do great in the mud, trails and on the rocks. [:D]
They do horrible on wet pavement or on the snow though. [barf2] |

| I personally believe that my new ProComp X-Terrains are some of the best tires I have had. Really good self cleaning action, great on rocks, sand (aired down), and they are even great in the snow. And...if you sipe them, they are great on ice. So, talk about a great all around tire...this one is really my pick. I have run most popular (and some unpopular) tires out there. I have run all on the list above. Aside of the Krawlers anyhow..but I KNOW those are good...lol. But I really like the way the X-Terrains perform overall. Anyone else try em? |

I've heard similar results from the X-Terrains - but I have heard two complaints:
1) Weak sidewalls in comparison to TSL's, Goodyears and BFG's.
2) Not very pliable, takes a very long time for the tires to break in and soften up.
What do you think?

if i would go w/ a pro comp tire it would be the m/t first then
the x/t.
pro comp m/t were my first off road tire
i had. they did very well in mud, sand & rock.
the only part what i didnt like they chunked alot when rock crawling.
i never had a problems chunking that bad w/ sipped boggers or ssr |

| Well, I can't say that I have had a problem with weak sidewalls. But I can say that mine did seem to loose small chunks quick....Wierd. But so far they have been quite reliable here in the Alaska mudroot, sand, rock, and good over felled trees. |

SSRs are awesome! I'm on my second pair and they are tough and eat up everything! I had the BFG ATs before and there is NO comparison to these tires!

I have to say we have had great success with MAXXIS MUDDERS.
You can't beat the price on MAXXIS tires and we have yet to break
a bead seal during any of the off road events we have competed in.
Living in North Texas we are in constant contact with
Mesquite trees and the thorns on these trees can be lethal
to tires.
Our Maxxis Tires had held their own, we have yet to loose
a tire or even get a flat tire from any of the mesquite bushes
and trees we have come up against, and man they are everywhere around where we trail near our home.
So Maxxis gets two thumbs up from Nate, Micki and I. |

Goodyear is time tested and popular also... |
