Obviously being a girl, I'm new to the big truck conversation. However, I know I like what I'm seeing on the road. I've talked to several people about putting a lift kit on my 4dr 250 and since I am a girl, everyone tells me not to go more than 4". I think bigger the better and wonder how much different the 6" would be than the 4". I had new tires put on last week. They said it was the biggest I could put on this 250. All I know is they are 35 Wild Spirits. Anyone care to give me some advice on lifts and pics would be great so I would know what I'm looking at, if available. Thanks guys for the help!

Check the four wheel mags they have tons of pics most are of 8" lifts with 38 to 44 inch wheels. I have a 2002 Lariat F250 Diesel Crew Cab with 8" lift riding on Parnelli Jones 38-15.50R16.5 tires with Weld 12X16.5 wheels. Most off road magazines will have an article every issue about lifting an F250. ------------ Tina at 1/11/2002 8:28:29 AM

I have friends that have both 4 and 6" lifts of their 250's and 350's. I currently have a 2" on my 99 F250 with 35" BFG AT's. I had to extend the bumper out a few inches to keep it from rubbing. Check out truckworld.com. Go to the readers rides section and look into the 4WD section. Plenty of pics there. ------------ Tina at 1/11/2002 8:28:29 AM

If you search the web for lift kits, most of the manufacturers will have a recommended tire size for each lift. Look at Edge(Donahoe Racing), Superlift, Fabtech, BDS, Skyjacker, RevTek, Pro Comp, Tuff Country. Talk to your local 4x4 store. Also check out www.ford-trucks.com and www.thedieselstop.com. Lots of good info in the forums and galleries with a ton of pics. Have fun. ------------ Jay at 7/7/2002 4:41:32 AM

My F250 PS 7.3 is smoking real bad it started all of a sudden. It smokes all the time even after its warmed up. Clouds of white smoke comes from the tail pipe.. ------------ TJ at 9/12/2003 2:24:57 PM

I have a 03 Excursion 6.0 Desiel, stock the steering was ok, harder when stopped. However now after 4" pro comp and 295 75R 10 BFGs it is almost impossible to turn when stopped at times and all other times it is difficult. I'm concerned about breaking /bending something. when moving there is no noticable problem. ------------ Roy at 8/27/2003 3:54:03 PM

Jeff, I have a 2001 ford f250 that I have not lifted at all. I have the very same problem. I took it back under warranty & they replaced my steering gear box with a f450 box. I still have the same problem & they are trying to tell me it is a design problem so thats all they can do. I don't believe it becuase I did not have that problem the first year and a half. Let me know if any one has the same problem or better yet a solution.I have 305 tires. Roy ------------ at 7/30/2003 8:40:37 PM

Jeff, I have the same lift and same tires and the same problem on a 2003 F250 Powerstroke and haven't found an answer. Mine feels like manual steering even at high speeds. I don't know what ford changed, I have a 1990 with 9 inch lift w/ 38 inch Super Swampers and it steers like a dream. Ford screwed something up. $43K and it steers like crap. kevin irwin ------------ Wolfy at 3/2/2003 2:14:20 AM

Bigger tires equal more rubber contacting the pavement thus creating better traction the same as wider tires do, Traction is the resittance to slippage which is why your truck is harder to steer at low speeds or parked. Also if you have installed a smaller steering wheel it will cause the same problem ( LEVERAGE ). ------------ Jeff at 3/9/2002 10:46:52 PM

I put a 4" Procomp lift with 35" tires on 16.5"x9.75" Centerlines on my 2001 F250. The problem I am having is that when I very low speed or stoped, it is hard to steer the wheels. Has anyone seen this problem before or know of any fixes for this problem.

THX, Jeff
