My 97 ford F 150 4X4 has 17" rims ........ I'm looking for some mud grips, I see there are a lot more to chose from in 16.5" than 17" ...........

If I get 16.5" rims and tires (32") tall can it work on my truck... I can then swap back the 17" slicks and rims during the off season ????[?]

I'd try and stay away from 16.5" rims if possible. The bead lip on the rim is much smaller and more prone to popping off if you do any four wheeling and air your tires down. That's why you don't see anyone running 16.5" rims off road.

There are a number of manufacturers that do make a variety of aggressive off road tires for 17" rims. BFGoodrich, Nitto and ProComp all make various 17" tires. I think Goodyear does as well too.
