| The door ajar light has come on and wont go off and it messes with my dome light to where sometimes it wont even go off. I've seen people say sparay WD40 in the door somewhere to stop it or replace the switch. Does anyone know about this?
Any help is appreciated. |

It seems the problem is in the door handle area. Ford sells the parts and is aware of the problem. I am looking into it myself and it sounds like it costs about 80 bucks for the part. Joy

Go to http://www.thecomplaintstation.com/f/_ford/000006e2.htm. I sprayed WD-40 in the door latch and the problem went away. It worked for me.

YOU NEED TO REPLACE A SENSOR IN YOUR LATCH ASSEMBLY (DRIVERS SIDE). ITS A DEALER PART AND IS ABOUT $10.00, AND TAKES ABOUT A HALF HOUR.SPRAYING IT WILL NOT HELP.

This is indeed a known issue.
Based on www.rangerstation.com, and my own personal experience (I have a 98 also), spraying a penetrant such as wd-40 into the door latch often cures the problem. It did for me. Though I have to admit, I am relieved that I did not know about Dan's decision that this would not work ahead of time.
