i have a 2000 F-250 PS 4x4. I understand that the automatic locking hubs on my front wheels run on vaccum. The other day i noticed that my 4x4 wasnt working as it should (not working at all) but when i got out and locked my hubs manually i dug myself right out of the hole i was in. Is there any sort of secret dealing with the vaccuum sys on the auto hubs?

I have a 2002 f-250 SD and had problems with the truck not comming out of four wheel drive. I would have to get out and turn the hubs from auto to lock and back to auto and the truck would come out of four wheel. I took it back to the dealer and they took the hubs apart and cleaned them inside and out. I have had no problems since. The dealer said they change a seal in the hup from a black seal to a yellow one???? Hope this helps.

I heard of a similar problem with two other SD owners. I wonder if there's a problem with the OE seals.

Or a problem with the lub in the hubs which impeeds their operation.
