RJC2RJC - This probably got lost in the plethora of other "help, my 4 wheel drive doesn't work" threads that we're posted in the last two weeks, that all had nearly identical subject lines. Most of us reply to the boards when we get the email notification, and as you can imagine, there have been a lot of these coming in lately because everyone is trying to use 4 wheel drive for the first time in 9 or 10 months.
At any rate, as I understand it, everything was working perfectly, rught up to the axle. If that's the case, then I suspsect that you have a hub that's gone bad, or a hub that isn't engaging.
Have you jacked the truck up (front axle), locked in a hub, then spun the tire to hear it engage?
You can also jack up one front tire, engage both hubs, put the t-case in neutral and then spin the lifted tire. See if the front driveshaft is turning. If it is not, then it's a bad hub.

thank you webby 4x4 i didnt meen to sound like a but head. i had been checking the post for several days now and hadnt seen a reply. was just a little frustrated.
i know when i was stuck i could look under the truck and hit the gas with my hand and see the front shaft spinning. but the tires werent doing anything. i made sure the hubs were locked in, well turned to locked in anyway and nothing.
are hubs hard to change? any special tools? my wifes grand parents allways give me 100 bucks for christmas and i think im going to spend it on new hubs.
once agin thank you for the reply. |

nah - hubs are a piece of cake. If you're on a tight budget, just pick up a set of Warn hubs. If you go 4-wheeling a lot, then get the all metal Warn PREMIUM hubs (they're over $100 though). If you're tight on cash, just get the Warn standard hubs.
It's about 1 hour to swap both hubs. You'll need wrenches, screwdriver, hammer, grease (A hub socket is VERY preferred, which you can rent or buy at Autozone), and allen wrenches.
It's a piece of cacke to swap.
