| its burning it. Modern engines with emissions control can consume a good bit of oil and never show a sign of it except on dip stick. 460 can get hungry when it gets older. Try using 10w30 in winter and maybe 15w40 (not 10w40) in warmer weather in a older engine as it seems to work well. Change oil often (like every 3K or less) as when oil gets dirty it does not seal rings and such as well and can increase usage. DO watch level closely. A engine can run fine for many years using some oil as long as you do not let it get too low. |
