I have a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder and recently the dashboard lights have been cutting out or not turning on at all when I turn on my headlights. Now I think that the problem has escalated because now when I turn on the lights only driver's side headlight comes on and the tail lights are off also. What might be the problem?

Now I think that the problem has escalated because now when I turn on the lights only driver's side headlight comes on and the tail lights are off also. What might be the problem?

I have the same original problem in my 1993 Pathfinder, it has not escalated to the headlight not working. probably find the cause is the contacts in the headlight switch on the steering column. Its a complex and expensive beasty so be careful if you try and dismantle it. I suggest you remove the switch as a complete unit and give it really good spray and workout with crc226 and let it dry. Sorry but its a bit of a backyard fix but the cost of a new unit will leave you feeling ill. I have a 1990 Nissan Stanza which developed a similar issue a few years ago. It was dirty contacts on the combination switch. It is the turning stick or your can call it the headlight switch. It also contains the console light switches and turning switches. The heads lights and console are on different contacts of the same unit. What I did was taking out the switch and cleaning (scratching) the contacts with a screw driver to get rid of the oxidized surface layers. That would keep it going for a few months each time until it retired a few weeks ago. (We got a Pathfinder and the Stanza had to retire.) It is easy to replace in the Stanza, just a few screws and two connectors. Of course you can get a new one (for over $100) or an used but still usable one.
