Hi there,

We have just bought an used 1999.5 Pathfinder LE and have a couple of questions:

1. Where is the oil filter?

The drawing in the user manual shows the oil filter on the front driver side of the engine but I do not feel anything shaped like an oil filter there. Do we need to remove something like the skid plate to get to it? This pathfinder has a 3.3 V6 engine.

2. How do we adjust the roof rack? (We want to move the back bar a bit forward.)

The rack has the Nissan logo and seems original, but it is different from the one shown in the user manual. The user manual shows big knobs on the bars to turn but there are none on ours.

I suppose there are screws fixing the bars to square nuts on the tracks. They seems hidden under the end caps but I could not get the caps off. Would there be a special key/tool that we would need to work with this roof rack or would there be a special way to get to the screws without breaking the caps?

It could be our 1999 user manual does not describe the 1999.5 model correctly. Would anybody have a 2000 user manual that may clarify these two points? To my understand 1999.5 should be the same as the 2000 model.

We appreciate any help.

Thanks, P. C.

Find answers from the Dealer:

We need a special hex screw driver with a hole in the centre to adjust the rack. The oil filter should be visible after removing the skid plate.

the oil filter is under the skid plate covering the front axle. take out the screws and remove it and you will see the oil filter. also just give the roof rack a good push and it should slide along nicely. ------------ P.C. Chan at 6/7/2004 11:04:22 PM
