just a question I thouhgt of at work...

if you put the t-case in nurtal(i know i misspelled it)dost the speedo still work(rack up miles) while the truck's being pulled??

input please

No because the speedo pickup is on the rear output shaft in Tcase or in the rear differental with a ford.

Actually, let's think this through for a moment...

If the truck / SUV is being flat towed or being suspended by the front tires (tow dolly), then the rear tires are turning... this would turn the gear set, the rear driveshaft, and the output shaft on the TCase. Thereby turning the speedo gear (even if it's mounted to the rear diff).

Putting the TCase in neutral disengages the input shaft to the output shaft, which means, the input shaft won't *turn* the output shaft and vice versa. Essentially, if the motor is spining the trans, it'll turn the input shaft, but not the output shaft, so it wouldn't allow the vehicle to move forward.

Conversley, if the truck is 'rolling', the rear drivetrain from the tires up to and including the output shaft will still be turning.

So... wouldn't that mean that the speedo gear will still turn?
