I am in the process of switching out my semi floating 14 bolt for a full floater. I am going to get from from a chevy van because of the extra width, but what I need to know is front to back what is the difference in length of the 2. Will the new one be longer or shorter than the semi, trying to find out if I will need my drive shaft lengthend or not. I have about 7" of lift in the rear and if the full floater is shorter then I will know I will need a longer drive shaft. Thanks Nick

?anybody have any of these in their back yard or garage collecting dust and rust?

You know it's going to be a good day when you get the milk to cereal ratio correct on the first bowl.

Drive shaft length should be okay but I would think twice about the swap as the 9.5 is about a strong as a 60 and has more after market locker options which the 10.5 does no have because of clearance issue with carrier because of the straddle mounted pinion bearings. The 9.5 is greatly under rated and is a stout unit and has about 1 inch more diff housing clearance to than the 10.5 does. If I had a good 9.5 in a truck I would not get rid of it unless I was planning to run 44's with a locker and lots of power in a heavy truck.
