Just bought a 97 Super-cab with all stock componets .... Its has P265/70R17 slicks on it now.......... Want to put some mud tires on it like some super swampers or Mickey Thompsom BAJA Claws on it ... Just how "tall and wide can I go without having trouble .... Do not want to put a lift kit on the truck .......

Thanks

30" tires are all you'll be able to fit on that truck. You might squeak by with 30's, but you'll likely rub when turning or during suspension compression.

Thanks Rick for the reply ..........

The tires on it now measure 30" from the ground to the top of the tire.......... Looks like it would take atleast an inch or two more ..... What do you think ........

Thanks

Sorry coonass, I was calculating for a 15" rim. A P265/70R17 equates to a 31.5" diameter tire with 10.3" width and 7.3" section height. Being that a 2.5" lift kit will net you 33X12.50R15's on you Ford, you should be able to mount 32's on there without problem. I think that you'll end up rubbing on the frame / steering components when you're at suspension compression while turning the tire to full lock though.

Rick how are tires measured .... under a load (mounted to the truck... or mounted on the rim but not on the truck (without a load)...

these tires measure apx 30" tall on truck... but off the truck (unloaded) you think they would be apx 31.5"

thanks fer the education

Hey coonass - they're measured mounted to a rim, aired to the recommended pressure. You'll lose about 3/4" when under load.
