I have an '83 cj7 chassis with and '89 wrangler tub.  I can't figure out how to wire my brake light switch.  My headlights, taillights, and turnsignals work fine.  Can anyone help?

There's a switch just above your brake pedal that has a wire coming out of it. That wire should track back to the large element on the brake light bulbs (I can't remember what color it is). Check to make sure that you're getting 12 volts out of the switch (or at least continuity, if you don't have a battery hooded up) before you start chasing wires.

I haven't had a chance to work on it. I was out of town but I plan on working on it this weekend. I'm more of a visual guy, are there any websites that would have a wiring diagram i could look at?

I did a quick search (VERY quick) and didn't see anything. However, here are a couple of ideas.

Using a voltmeter or a test light, you should be able to very quickly identify the wire that becomes hot, once the brake pedal is depressed. From there, you can trace that wire (they're color coded) and find out where it terminates.

The other option is to thumb through a Chilton or Haynes manual at a local auto parts store and just write down the color code of the wire. It's pretty straightforward.

I would search more, but I am at my shop's computer and it is unbelievably slow. I tried to find articles on the issue on search http://byfiles.com I don't have the time to wait for pages to load, and I can't quite seem to find what I am looking for even when I do have the time. Ok, here is my scenario: I decided to buy LEDs for my 2009 Jeep Wrangler's tail lights. To keep this story short, the turn signal now flashes rapidly. I bought the resistor kit, but I can't find a decent wiring diagram (the instructions are useless) to install these properly. Does anyone know of a decent wiring diagram, for the tail lights, that shows what wires I am supposed to splice into? Your time, effort, and help will be greatly appreciated.

I looked for that wire that is above the brake pedal and couldn't find it. I went it my wrangler at one of those auto parts Philadelphia because a friend of mine was working there and he fixed up real fast at their service. I couldn't tell you what he did even if I had it recorded but the main idea is that they moved fast and resolved my problem.

I heard that the brake light wiring from Wranglers is hard to do because they made some changes and few people know about this. When I was searching for Rvs for sale I met a man that asked the salesman about this, the light wiring from RV`s and Wrangles is similar and the sales assistant could help him with that.
