I am setting up the hydro assit steering on my 87 toyota  pickup that i have a put a dana 60 in the front and i am trying to figure out the best way.  i had hydro assit on my toyota staright axle that i had under the front of the truck before i swaped out to the 60.  i had the ram mounted on the hog head of the toyota axle and conected it to the tie rod bar.  im thinking this time since i have the tie rod link in the back conecting the knuckles together it might no be the best idea to mount the ram on the hog head agian.  I was thinking about mounting it to the frame and then to the bar that runs from teh steering box to the left knuckle.   Webby if you could possibly post some pictures of your hydro assit i remember that you had it mounted to the frame.  Any ideas would be miuch appreciated i know that it worked really well when i had the ram mounted on the axle.

You're still FAR better off mounting the ram to the axle if you can... if you can mount the ram to the axle tube (instead of the 3rd member), that's fine too. Mounting it to the frame like I did is a last-ditch option, really, only if there's no way that you can mount it to the axle.

The problem with mounting it to the frame is that your axle moves and one side of the ram does not. So, if you have a front axle that has a lot of suspension travel, you'll end up with forced steering.

Nonetheless, here are some pics.
