I have recently purchased a '02 2500 6.0 liter, 4x4 crew long bed. The dealer put 285x 75 r16's on the factory alloys. Can anyone tell me what there actual mpg's have been with there tire wheel combinations? Also does anyone have any valid information reguarding the use of this size tire and any associated problems with transmission, computer, etc.? I will be posting my actual mpg's as I start to put miles on it. Thanks for your input, Dimitri.

It must be kept in mind that unless the computer has been recalibrated EXACTLY to the new tires, that not only will the speedometer be off, but so will the odometer. One can determine the degree of inaccuacy with the following: reset your tripmeter at the exact moment that you pass a mile marker on the highway, travel 10 miles down the highway (according to the highway mile markers on the side of the road), and upon crossing the 10th mile marker note what your tripmeter says. Now for the math part: divide the actual milage (10) by the amount shown on your tripmeter. If the tripmeter reads 9.0 then the equation would be 10/9=1.111 Now if you are figureing fuel economy by dividing miles traveled by the amount of fuel used between fill ups, you would first need to multiply the miles traveled by the amount of the discrepency determinded in the previous equation (in this example it was 1.111) Example: miles traveled between fillups according to odometer is 400.6 equation would be 400.6x1.111=445.06 actual miles traveled. ------------ dimitrin at 7/4/2002 11:47:32 AM
