Did Ssangyong make a K5? I've seen and read about the K4's, but can 't find any information on the K5. Or are you referring to a K5 Blazer?

Hi Scuba - to post pictures, look just below where I'm writing... You'll see the words "Reply to Topic".
Click on that link, it will take you to another page. From there, just click on the link in the middle of the page (just above where you type) that says "Insert Your Picture In This Thread".
From there, just follow the instructions.
If you're still having problems, you can email the pictures to me at rick @ 4x4review . com (I put spaces in my email address to help reduce spam)
thanks,
Rick |

Cool looking ride... Is this a Ssangyong rig? If so, can you send us some stats? Example: Engine, trans, T-Case, gears, etc.?
I'm only vaguely familiar with the Ssangyong, and I'd love to learn more.
Thanks,
Rick |

Hey Jon - that's really cool! A piece of "Jeep" history that I was unaware of.
Hey, I accidently deleted your email (I'm always careful about getting emails with attachments from people I don't know, and I didn't know your email address). Anyhow, can you please resend, or post the pictures here?
Thanks again,
Rick |

Here's a little information on SSanYong Motors that I was able to dig up (for what it's worth).
SsangYong Motor Company is the fourth largest South Korean automobile manufacturer. It was founded as Hadonghwan Motor Company in 1954 and started by building jeeps for the US Army. Beginning in 1976, Hadonghwan produced a variety of special purpose vehicles. After changing its name to Dong-A Motor in 1977, it was taken over by Ssangyong Business Group in 1988 and changed its name to SsangYong Motor. The name SsangYong means twin dragons. In 1991 it started a technology partnership with Daimler-Benz (now DaimlerChrysler). Later, it purchased United Kingdom-based specialty car maker Panther Westwinds.
In 1997 Daewoo Motors bought a controlling stake, only to sell it off again in 2000, because the conglomerate ran into deep financial troubles. In late 2004, the Chinese automobile manufacturer SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) took a 49% stake of SsangYong Motor Company.
Kornado Information
The SsangYong Korando was a small 3-door 4x4 SUV produced from 1997 to 1999 and designed by briton Ken Greenly. It featured a choice of 2.3 L and 3.2 L gasoline engines or 2.9 L diesel engine, all produced on license of Mercedes-Benz. The name Korando is a contraction of "Korea Can Do".
A badge engineered version was sold as the Daewoo Korando from 1999 to 2001.
Korando is out of production since 2006.

Hello out there. Im in need of urgent help. I have a 1992 korando jeep cj7.It has the standard 2.3 isuzu diesel engine. I need to get this changed quick. I have in hand a 2.8 diesel isuzu 4JB1 engine. WOuld any one know if this would fit without any fitting need to be made.(as in just take out old engine and stick in the new one?) If no what engines would be suitable to fit onto the korando without having to go through hideous expenses of fittings?? Thanks alot Regards Matthias |
