| I am looking to buy tires for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I want some tires that look as though they belong on a jeep but are not loud on the interstate. I keep getting different answer on what is the biggest tires i can fit on my stock wheels and which are the best for both off roading and interstate driving. Please help! |

I have had 2 sets of goodyear wranglers and some others. I was only getting about 40,000 on the wranglers. 2 years ago I got a set of Michelin ATPs. Great tires. The ride much better than the wranglers. I have 40,000 on them and they still have plenty of tread. Without a lift you can squeeze 32s on it.

Gretchen,
I had the same dilema with my wrangler. I use mine off road most of the time, but when I commute, I didn't want to sound like a tank, the wind makes enough noise as it is. I put a set of Pro Comp X-terrains, size 31x10.5 on my stock rims and the fit fine. If you turn your wheel really far, (like maxed out to either side) you will get a slight rub, but you hardly get in that situation, even off road. I have been able to stuff the 31's really far up into my wheel wells and have not noticed any rubbing. Not only do these tires out perform most other tires I have seen in all offroad conditions, they are relativley quiet on the road too. Most mechanics will tell you that a 30 is the largest they recommend for the stock sport, just tell them you plan on a body lift and stick the 31's on, they fit fine and look finer.
