| I bought this quad recently and it is in great shape. My problem is I can only get top speed of 35 out of this thing. It does not miss or anything This machine should go 60 or better. Anyone have any ideas what is wrong? help |

Are you running stock tires? Could your tranny be slipping?
Tell me a little more about what you have? What have you checked so far? Air filter? Spark plug? |

Jimmyjet, welcome to the forum.
What brand, model, and mods to have on your machine?
Is it a cvt or manual transmission?
We cannot help you unless we have more data.
If you are running the 700 Polaris, check your CVT Belt, Air Filter, and your fuel. Belt could be worn, Filter could be dirty, fuel could be bad, etc.
How long was the machine sitting before it was used last?

Running stock tires on the 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700. Have replaced air filter, new plugs. Revs up to correct RPMs but feels like it is in low range but it is not. Another forum talked about a white nylon bushing that comes loose. You know anything about this? Thanks for the help |

My friend has the 2005 Dale JR edition with the 700 motor. What happens with this setup is that the front motor mount is defective from the Factory. The motor and trans are SEPERATE UNITS, and when the FRONT mount weakens or fails, everything still looks normal, but the Motor will torque to the Left under acceleration, effectively causing the drive belt to slip and the rev limiter to kick in.
When we pulled the front mount, only 1/3 of the rubber to steel plate connection had ANY glue on it. One good jump will shear it.
The mount takes about 5 minures to replace, or even to pull and inspect it.
Another isue with the 700 is the fuel regulator. It will fail under High heat conditions, and in turn, the motor will sound like it is running on 1 cylinder. If you are idling, and the engine starts to miss, look in the fuel tank and if you see a LOT of bubbling, almost like looking at a hot tub with the jets going, then the fuel pressure regulater has failed and is not allowing enough pressure buildup to properly operate the injectors. If you see just a little bit of flow in the tank, that is the normal fuel return from the regulator.
You can also measure the pressure at the fuel injector rail with a standard automotive fuel pressure guage. 39psi +- 3psi is normal.
The entire pump must be replaced as it is a sealed unit.
One last issue is a lot of riders complain of being shocked by the Throttle assembly. This is caused by the way the coil is mounted. There is a replacement coil that looks ALMOST the same, but will mount backwards and have a Nylon spacer that prevents arcing from the coil to the frame, and then through you. It will USUALLY only shock you when it is very dry out and you are running through Dust. The dry air and dust will build up a Static charge on you and act like a magnet for the ignition spark to zap you. It will only Zap you if you touch the metal screw on the throttle assembly.. |

2005 2 cylinder polaris 700 4x4 PLEASE HELP !!! I can not start this,machine all it does is make a clicking noise, when I try to start it. my battery is fully charged ? however it was run through some pretty high water, but then started to sputter after. Before this problem came about I ran fine any suggestions? |

Sig9mill - it sounds like you've hydrolocked your engine, meaning you've ingested water into the cylinder bore. Since water can't compress, your engine won't turn over. - Turn your gas off by turning the valve below your fuel tank. - Take your spark plug(s) out and turn the engine over by hand, using the starting rope. You should see water shoot out of the spark plug holes. Keep doing this until you have no more water coming out. - Then, use your electric starter to crank it over for a while. - Next, spray a bit of fogging oil into your cylinder bore and run the starter for 20 seconds or so again. - After that, you should be able to put your spark plugs back in, hook up your wires, then turn on the fuel and start your engine. Now, if your engine has sat too long, you may have formed a rust ring in your engine bore. You may get lucky and it will break free with no issues, or, if could snap a piston ring. Either way, the engine has to come out. If you pull your spark plugs out and no water comes out of the cylinder bore spark plug hole, then you have a bad starter. Rick |

replace the rear variable speed pulley or replace the 3 little "knobs" on the inside of it ($8) which are tough to replace. |

2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI Dale Earnhart Jr. Edition Battery light and speedo arm lighting up. Basically the battery is not charging. Only seeing 11.5 amps Oil in the stator ( probably a oil seal leak ) Looks like some of the wires are burned on the stator Is the stator easy to replace and if so how di I do it ? |
