I have a 2000 tacoma trd off-road with 3.4 supercharged. I broke a yukon ring and pinion. What is the stongest ring and pinion I can put in there. I am running 4.88 gears

I'm surprised you broke a Yukon R&P gear set. Randy's uses very high quality products.

I honestly think that something else in your axle is setup incorrectly. Also, you may want to give them a call, as I'm sure they will warranty their product.

Wow, I really havent heard of a Toy blowing R&Ps like that before. Especially a new one. He may have installed those gears himself. Which, in the wrong hands, usually spells disaster. Once you blow gears up in your diff (especially really bad), that diff could have continuing problems. Since you have aftermarket gears, I wouldnt quite recomend buying another full axle (yet). This is because of the cost of having the gears in the new axle settup to match the front ones. First, take your rig down to a REPUTABLE driveline specialist. (buy some more Yukons before going) Tell them the problems you are having and the axles past. Ask them to inspect the axle housing and bearing seats for damage. If the mechanics are worth a damn, they will give you an honest answer. If the axle housing is trashed and costs a ton to repair, buy a junkyard axle. IF NOT, then have them set those gears up for ya in the old axle. The way I see it, is that you have to get 4:88s no matter which axle you go with. So, buy the gears anyways. But try to save a buck by having the old axle inspected first. Theres my 2 cents, does that help ya??

Thanks the more people i talk to the more i think the guy that set up the rear end up didnt do it right. But that is what he does for a living so I dont know. My yota is a 2000 Toyota Tacoma SR5 TRD OFF ROAD with the 3.4 V6 race injectors, high volume fuel pump, fuel managment, superchared, 5 speed, 6" lift with 35 X 12.5 BFG. With the 4.88 yukon gears front and rear, and traction bars.

They would not warranty the R&P the one year warranty was up in january. After i buy the new R&P it will be the third yukon R&P in this truck the first two were set up by the same guy thou.. Maybe i will have better luck with someone else doing the set up on the 3rd member.

I would sure hope so. Like I said, tell em what has happend to that third member. Make sure they know it has a history. They may recommend replacing it alltogether, which would give you peace of mind anyways.

First of all why not try a different brand of R&P?

Second, maybe a heavy foot on a supercharged engine might have something to do with it.

Third, maybe you/he haven't been breaking them in correctly.

Fourth, maybe have Bobby Long cryo-treat the next R&P.
